A Therapist for the Community Action Team (CAT) provides clinical evaluation, treatment, and consultation services. It is a self-contained team that provides comprehensive, intensive, community-based treatment to families with children and youth at risk of out of home placement due to mental health disorders. This advanced professional position requires the ability to build professional empathetic relationships with clients, while providing efficient and appropriate direct clinical services. A CAT Therapist is expected to be an advocate for clients and interact with clients in a manner that reflects cultural sensitivity. Their purpose is to not only provide clinical treatment, but also help assure the clients rights are protected, report any abuse and/or neglect as mandated by law.

Who are we looking for?

Master degree in Behavioral Health Sciences, such as mental health counseling, social work, art therapy or marriage and family therapy; and a minimum of 2 years work experience working with children and adolescences with behavioral health needs is preferred. Work experience must include population to be served. Unlicensed professional with Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or closely related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience with population is preferred.

    • ** Must be able to type at least 27 wpm on prescreen assessment and score at least 65% on general assessment.

    Drivers Requirement:

    Must have a current Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record while meeting company insurance requirements.

    In order to qualify as a Center Driver, the candidate must at least 21 years of age and have an active Florida Driver's license.? Motor Vehicle Record will be reviewed for eligibility.? No more than 3 moving violations and/or accidents within the past 3 years and no major violations during the past 5 years. Drivers over 65 years old must provide a current doctor's note stating they have no driving limitations.?

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Perform clinical assessments to determine diagnosis, level of care, and treatment plan in coordination with the Team.
    • Provide therapy services to assigned clients and/or family members in accordance with Center guidelines and procedures, and best practice standards for profession.
    • Follow the appropriate evidence-based model as provided.
    • Provide crisis intervention services for clients as needed.
    • Conduct face-to-face visits with clients in their home or in the community to monitor progress.
    • Have availability between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm daily.
    • Travel to the home of clients or community settings.
    • Provide on-call duties as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    Specific competencies required are identified on a department/program specific basis and identified in each employee's Competency Checklist. The following are general and apply to all positions with this title.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
