About the Role

As the Director of Performance Management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all processes align with regulatory, contractual, and legal requirements, while proactively advancing organizational excellence through collaboration, data-driven analysis, and continuous improvement strategies. While reporting directly to the SVP, the Director is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, consistently exercising sound judgment, initiative and discretion in managing adverse events, and interpreting complex policies and procedures related to risk management and quality improvement.

You will:

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Excellence

  • Partner with the SVP of Organizational Excellence to guide the development and execution of enterprise-wide performance, quality, and risk management strategies.
  • Provide high-level leadership and direction for initiatives that align with Meridian Healthcare's strategic goals, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement priorities.
  • Serve as an advisor in strategic planning, contributing to the SVP development of long-term goals, performance benchmarks, and organizational priorities.
  • Act as Department Head in the absence of the SVP, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.

Performance & Quality Improvement

  • Assists in leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of performance measurement systems, including dashboards, KPIs, and data visualization tools to monitor organizational effectiveness.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement - presenting actionable insights to leadership and operational teams.
  • Facilitate and support Quality Improvement Committees, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the client concern and accommodation request process, ensuring timely and compassionate resolution.
  • Oversee internal auditing functions and ensure timely resolution of identified issues through corrective action planning and follow-up.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Direct the agency's risk management framework, including adverse event reporting, root cause analysis, and mitigation strategies.
  • Interpret and apply complex regulatory, contractual, and legal requirements to ensure organizational compliance and risk reduction.
  • Leadership role in the coordination and readiness efforts for external audits, licensing inspections, and accreditation surveys (e.g., CARF), including documentation collection, staff preparation, and follow-up.

Health Information Management (HIM) Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of the HIM team, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, data privacy, and security regulations.
  • Oversee development and enforcement of HIM procedures and workflows to support accurate, timely, and secure information management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Capacity Building

  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical leaders to embed quality and compliance into daily operations and decision-making processes.
  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to staff and leadership on compliance, performance improvement, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Promote a culture of excellence by fostering cross-departmental communication, innovation, and accountability.

Operational & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage the agency's licensing and permit application/renewal processes to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports, including quality improvement specialists, internal auditors, risk management specialist, and the HIM Manager, fostering high performance and professional development.
  • Support or lead the development and revision of agency-wide procedures, forms, and documentation tools.

What We're Looking For

Master's degree (MA/MS/MBA), preferably in healthcare related field, and three (3) years of experience in business analysis, quality assurance or performance improvement OR Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in business analysis, quality assurance or performance improvement. At least one (1) year of experience was in a supervisory role. Experience in Risk Management required.
