About the Role

As a Quality Improvement (QI) Specialist - Internal Auditor, you will play a critical role in upholding organizational compliance, documentation quality, and regulatory integrity. In this position, you will conduct detailed audits of clinical and medical documentation to ensure services billed are fully supported and compliant with third-party, state, and federal requirements. You will also evaluate additional compliance-related areas to ensure alignment with laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Your work strengthens Meridian's overall quality framework through thorough reporting, collaboration across departments, and active participation in the development of compliance standards and training initiatives. This role requires strong ethical judgment, discretion, and independent thinking, as well as the ability to communicate audit findings clearly to leadership.

 You will:

  • Conduct internal audits of clinical and medical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with third-party regulations and standards.
  • Audit additional compliance-related topics to evaluate adherence to state and federal laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive written audit reports with findings and recommendations for improvement for review by executive leadership.
  • Present audit results and findings to program leaders.
  • Prepare and issue Corrective Action Plans as directed and based on audit outcomes.
  • Serve on Quality Improvement Committees as assigned.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that strengthen compliance and reduce organizational risk.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of compliance audit standards.
  • Collaborate with staff and departments to resolve billing and documentation issues while serving as a subject-matter expert on compliance topics.
  • Partner with HR Training & Development to integrate compliance findings into future training and educational programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee preparations for external audits.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with external auditors.
  • Facilitate the preparation of summary reports for internal compliance surveys.
  • Assist with licensure applications as needed.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, sound judgment, discretion, and strong independent decision-making.

  • What We're Looking For

    Bachelor's Degree Preferred, Associate's Degree or graduation from a standard high school or its equivalent and two years of general office or clerical experience, which included collection, tracking and reporting of data/information, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
