Specialist - Recovery/Residential Bridge House | Gainesville

Position Title: Recovery Specialist
Location: Gainesville, FL
Pay: $16.32 / hr. | non-exempt

Position Summary:
This is an entry-level position providing supportive counseling, psycho-educational lectures and ancillary services within the Residential Program. The position requires the ability to model behaviors and work as a member of the treatment team in reaching the goals of the individualized Person served Recovery plan, as well as the goals of the program. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years' experience in a human service field?required.

OR

  • Associate's degree in a human service field preferred.

OR

  • Personal recovery of at least 2 years.

AND

  • Preference is given to candidates with work experience in substance abuse.
  • Current Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record while meeting company insurance requirements?required.

Drivers Requirement:

Must have a current Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record while meeting company insurance requirements.

In order to qualify as a Center Driver, the candidate must be at least 21 years of age and have an active Florida Driver's license.? Motor Vehicle Record will be reviewed for eligibility.? No more than 3 moving violations and/or accidents within the past 3 years and no major violations during the past 5 years.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists the treatment team in providing direct client care.
  • Aids in ensuring an orderly, safe and therapeutic environment by maintaining a therapeutic relationship with person served and treats person served with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Monitors person served to help maintain a safe, clean environment and set standards for milieu monitoring through the performance of these tasks.
  • Observes, reports and documents client interaction among peers, staff and the community as it relates to clients' individual recovery goals.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Specific competencies required are identified on a department/program on a specific basis and identified in each employee's Competency Checklist. The following are general and apply to all positions with this title.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
