Position Title: Unit Clerk
Location: Lake City, FL
Salary: $16.32|hour | non-exempt

Position Summary:

The Unit Clerk is responsible for performing secretarial/clerical duties while providing top notch customer service skills. He/she functions as the focal communication source in the nursing station. Provides indirect care in the department under the direction of the Unit Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-year minimum experience in a clerical setting, healthcare preferred
  • Experience in Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse preferred

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Answers phones; screens and routes calls appropriately; maintains client confidentiality when dealing with phone/visitors; demonstrates ability to transfer/utilize phone system.
  • Assists in maintenance of clinical charts and records.
  • Maintains and updates unit inventory and client statistical information.
  • Files Baker Act Petitions and maintains each week's court docket.
  • Performs photocopying, faxing, uploading, document disposal and related office functions.
  • Manages medication prior authorizations.
  • Monitors/completes unit work orders and requests.
  • Maintains staff on-call and stay-over logs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Significant amounts of walking and standing are required in monitoring of tenants.
    • Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear, and smell continually. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
    • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
    • Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance and peripheral vision needed for driving and monitoring of residents.
    • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
    • Must be awake on all shifts - no sleeping
