NHP Accountant

Location: Gainesville, FL
Pay:
$25.50/hour | Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About the Role

Meridian Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to support the financial operations of NHP Properties. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for assisting with month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit preparation, and accounting process improvements. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments while helping ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting organizational success.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Analyze monthly financial statements and provide variance explanations.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for annual audits.
  • Manage and prepare Accounts Receivable reporting for Housing Operations.
  • Respond to internal and external requests related to financial information.
  • Develop and generate ad hoc financial reports as requested.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of internal financial controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, collections, and payment workflows.
  • Support special projects assigned by the Controller and/or CFO.
  • Create and enhance financial reporting tools and processes.
  • Partner with departments across the organization to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience required.
  • Relevant professional accounting experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF functions, and data analysis tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization.
