Position Summary:

Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision.  Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its limited technical knowledge and from lower classes by its emphasis on professional bookkeeping skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Graduation from an accredited two-year college with AA or AS degree in accounting, business administration, economics or other related disciplines; or an equivalent combination of education (or training) and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Minimum Typing words per minute: 27.

·  ** Must be able to type at least 27 wpm on prescreen assessment and score at least 65% on general assessment.

Drivers Requirement:
Must have a current Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record while meeting company insurance requirements.
In order to qualify as a Center Driver, the candidate must at least 21 years of age and have an active Florida Driver's license.  Motor Vehicle Record will be reviewed for eligibility.  No more than 3 moving violations and/or accidents within the past 3 years and no major violations during the past 5 years. Drivers over 65 years old must provide a current doctor's note stating they have no driving limitations. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs the duties of a full-charge bookkeeper, i.e. entering AP invoices, A/R invoices, deposits, and analyzing financial statements.
  • Prepare journal entries as needed for month end close.
  • Performs the duties of a payee for group home clients, i.e. paying utility bills, rent, group home fees, and issuing customer statements, etc.
  • Performs internal audits, as directed by the Senior Accountant and completes Representative Payee reports, for submission to the SSA.
  • Prepares system-generated P&L and Balance Sheet, and analyzes any variances, on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains various journals, rent receivable schedules, and processes vendor invoices for payment.
  • Maintains flow of financial data to general ledger and helps to maintain chart of accounts
  • Assists with required supporting schedules to external auditors.
  • Working knowledge of bad debt and depreciation accounting concepts, responsible for updating supporting schedules on a monthly basis, and entering the entries in the accounting software.
  • Compiles financial statement packets
  • Enters the monthly Maintenance and Management Fees for HUD related properties
  • Purchase office supplies for the Fiscal Department and all other programs at Meridian. 
  • Reconcile Pcard statements and obtain all the supporting documentation.
  • Process E-reqs in the accounting system.
  • Attends work on a continuous and regular basis. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
