Meridian Behavioral Health is a private, non -profit organization with roots in the mental health community since the 1960's. Since that time, we've expanded to 13 counties in North Central Florida. We us a multidisciplinary approach to treating to those facing mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

  • Take referrals from protective investigations or protective services workers and initiate contact efforts within three working days of receiving a completed referral.
  • Provide an assessment, preferably at the same time as the screening, preferably in the home or community setting.
  • May appear in dependency court in response to subpoena or at the request of the client.
  • Once disposition on the case is final (usually within six to fifteen months of initial referral), whether it is re-unification or termination of parental rights, the client may remain in aftercare status for up to three months, if determined necessary. The F.I.S. will continue to monitor progress and provide support during that time, and upon completion of that period will discharge the client from the F.I.S. program.
  • Track and report on the progress of individuals referred.
  • Provide an initial face to face screening within ten working days of receiving a completed referral.
  • Performs other duties as required to meet program and departmental goals and objectives.

Who are we looking for? (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) from an accredited university or college with a major in:
    • Sociology, social work, psychology, criminal justice, health education or a related human services field.
    • One year of experience working with substance abuse required.
    • Experience with both substances abuse and child abuse/neglect is preferred.  
  • Able to work Independently, while being organized and flexible in an ever-changing environment.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and meet minimum age requirement for insurance.
